RAM 1500 EcoDiesel Brings the MPG

The EPA fuel-economy estimates stickered on the side windows of the RAM trucks here on the Bob Pforte Motors showroom floor in Marianna are important to many pickup truck drivers but has not been cause for great jubilation in the past. Though mileage has been improving, it still remains under what many SUVs and crossovers achieve. Well, drivers around Tallahassee, Panama City and all of Northern Florida better get ready for the best type of sticker shock they've received in a while.

Though the EPA has not given it an official fuel-efficiency rating, the RAM 1500 EcoDiesel was put through its paces recently by Motor Trend magazine and the venerable publication gave it an unofficial, real-world estimate of 28 MPG on the highway.

That's quite impressive and it will be interesting to see if the truck mimics that in EPA testing. The magazine also pointed to how the RAM 1500 EcoDiesel runs, which is quite well. They note how the V-6 feels like a V-8, and is plenty capable with the ability to tow 9,200 pounds.
