2014 Dodge Durango Gets a Transmission and Efficiency Boost

If there's one new Dodge model that has generated a lot of buzz to kick off 2013, it would be the Durango. That's because we all knew it would have plenty of added new features, but we had to wait until the New York International Auto Show this March. Thankfully, that wait is over, and we know a bit more about the SUV.

Scheduled to begin production at the start of quarter three (that would be July), the 2014 Dodge Durango has a new grille that's interchangeable between its five different trim levels: the SXT, Rallye, Limited, R/T, and Citadel. Also, like the Dart and Charger, the SUV has new taillights that make it distinctively a Dodge vehicle.

The other big change is a new eight-speed transmission. To control it, drivers now use a rotary knob and paddle controls if they desire manual shifting, but this also gives the Durango a nine percent increase in fuel economy. No official mileage estimate was released, but for comparison's sake, the current Durango gets 19 miles per gallon on the highway, so expect that number to be higher.

Between now and July, we are sure other details will emerge regarding the 2014 Durango, and we'll update you on the Bob Pforte Motors blog when it becomes available. If you'd like to check out the vehicles we have in our showroom, stop in to see us at 4214 West Lafayette St Marianna, FL today. We'd be happy to provide additional information, answer any questions you might have, and arrange a test drive.
